It finally happened. I had to control poison control this weekend. I am honestly surprised it has taken this long since Sophie loves to put anything and everything in her mouth. I really thought she would grow out of it but she hasn't.
Sophie has a mad love affair with medicine. When you mention medicine to her, she runs to wear we keep it and stands there, looking up at me with her little mouth open wide, just like a baby bird. Not only does she take it without a fuss, she asked for it.
ASKS FOR IT! As in, she will be playing in her room and she will says "Mommy, medicine?" and I will reply "No, medicine is only for when we are sick". She will then hold her little hand over her mouth and let out a few measle coughs, look at me and ask again "Medicine?". As if she has just proved she is in need of medicine.
This love for medicine finally caught up with us on Saturday when I put a little pink Benadryl pill lying on the couch. This was odd so I picked it up too look at it. It had teeth marks in it. God Dang It. Sophie got the pill out of the dogs food bowl (he has allergies, in case you were wondering).
I asked her if she took Jakes medicine. She said yes. I did the good parent thing where I explain you dont take medicine with out mommy or daddy, blah blah, and go to put the pill back in the dogs bowl. When I do, I search for the second pill. It isn't in the bowl. It isn't around the bowl. It isn't on the living room floor or the couch. It is no where.
Well shit. She ate it. I called poison control. Luckily she was fine but damn it! Now they have her on file and probably think I am a terrible mother.
She was happy as a clam.
